Damian has a psychology degree and parlayed this into a long and enjoyable career in advertising. In the course of which he and his family lived in the UK, US and Ireland.
For many years he supplemented his income by playing the saxophone in wedding bands and occasional session work. He was a member of the British Youth Wind Band as well as The Stevie Cook Soul Band, a somewhat less formal ensemble.
As a child Damian was an altar server, two of his uncles are Roman Catholic priests, and his father-in-law was a British diplomat to the Vatican in 1978, the infamous year of three popes.
